According to a BBC report, the Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy will be unveiled before the Marki series starting at Handingley on 20 June, but England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) refused to comment on it.Earlier, Test matches between England and India were played for the Pataudi Trophy in the UK, named after Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and his son, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.In March, ECB wrote to the Pataudi family that they want to retire the trophyOne of the great players of the game, Tendulkar remains a leading run-scorer in Test history with 15,921.
Anderson, 52, played 200 Tests between 1989 and 2013 and has countless records in both Test and ODI formats. Anderson is England’s leading bowler and the most successful fast bowler in Test cricket with 704 wickets. Since retiring from international cricket in the last summer, 42 -year -old Anderson has been working as England’s bowling advisor and is now playing county cricket for Lancashire after signing the contract expansion recently. The two veterans faced each other in 14 Tests, in which Anderson dismissed Tendulkar nine times – the most by any bowler against the Indian icon. The move to change the name of the trophy came after a similar step taken by England and New Zealand, who launched the Crow-Thorap Trophy last year, named after former players Martin Crowe and Graham Thorpe.
