The biggest night in Soapland is hitting screens this evening, on Thursday, June 5. Soap stars from fan-favourites such as EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks will be seen hitting the red carpet as they dazzle at a night of celebration.

The night will see the public vote for their winners in categories including Best Leading Performer, Villain of the Year, Best Comedy Performance and Best British Soap. Meanwhile, the expert judging panel will choose their winners for Best Family, Best Dramatic Performance, Scene of the Year, Best On-Screen Partnership, Best Newcomer, Best Young Performer, Best storyline and Best Single Episode.

The last year in soap has seen legend Helen Worth, better known as Coronation Street's Gail Platt, bid farewell to the cobbles after 50 years. EastEnders also celebrated its 40th anniversary with a spectacular live episode as some familiar faces made a return, Hollyoaks had a dramatic leap into the future, and Emmerdale featured a frozen lake crash which ended in tragedy. The televised event is hosted by cruising Queen Jane McDonald from London's Hackney Empire.
