It's been whispered that Jay from has pocketed close to £1 million by creating online videos, hurling cheeky insults like "bus w****r" at fans. is reportedly earning an impressive £10,000 weekly through Cameo, where he dishes out personalised clips for his followers.

The 37-year-old actor took to the platform in 2020, and besides his fame as Jay Cartwright on the E4 series, he's pulled in a tidy sum through tailor-made fan shoutouts as his well-loved alter ego.

By the year 2022, he had set a record, becoming the first celeb outside the US to earn $1 million (£920,000) from the platform. Through Cameo, aficionados can request custom videos brimming with Jay's signature banter, which usually cost around £40 apiece.

While chatting on Spencer Matthews' Big Fish podcast in 2023, Buckley opened up about his initial jitters over the business move, worrying that perhaps no one would bite.

He shared his worries, saying: "I kept saying, 'This is going to be really, really embarrassing - my tiny fragile ego. I'm not the most confident person, this is going to send me to dark places. I'm going to sign up for this thing and nobody is going to want a video from me', and it turned out everyone did!"

James justified his £40 fee as a way to avoid taking advantage of fans, explaining: "Two mates can go in 20 quid each for their other mate down the pub and I call him a bus w****r and take the p**s out of him and it makes a lot of people happy."

Reflecting on the staggering volume of videos he's created, the TV star revealed: "I have done 10s of thousands. 10s and 10s of thousands, maybe 30, 40,000 something like that."

When Spencer asked if he had become a "Cameo millionaire", James candidly admitted: "Yeah, yeah I am."

With over 10,000 reviews, James' cameos demonstrate the sheer number of these brief 30-second videos the actor has produced.

One satisfied customer reviewed: "Couldn't ask for better, absolute top bloke. My mate loved the cameo of James. Massive fans of Inbetweeners and even though James has done thousands of these you can tell he still loves interacting with his fans! Cheers Jay ya bus w****r!".

Another praised: "Excellent, my son loved it, well worth every penny. The content was perfectly suited to my son, it was hilarious."

Martin Blencowe, co-founder of Cameo, commended James for his commitment, noting that he "takes it very seriously" and is "ready to do the work". This comes after reports indicated that he responded to an average of 37 video requests daily in 2021.

Blencowe praised James's commitment to his admirers, stating: "James was incredibly popular from the start, but he's stayed committed to his fans, always keeping an accessible price (even during his busiest periods) and giving his all to make each Cameo special."
