A crash involving three cars caused two lanes on the M1 northbound to close on Friday afternoon. Long queues formed on the busy motorway following the multi-vehicle crash near Lutterworth, with delays of up to 50 minutes.

The two lanes between J19 and J20 reopened at around 3:00pm after being closed about 90 minutes earlier following the incident. A spokesperson for the local fire service told LeicestershireLive there were no casualties. National Highways said "long delays" would remain after the lanes were reopened but this would begin to ease.
