Malayalam film actor Shine Tom Chacko sustained injuries, and his father, Chacko (70), lost his life in a road accident on the Dharmapuri National Highway near Palacode in western Tamil Nadu on Friday.

The accident occurred near Parayur when the car they were traveling in reportedly collided with a lorry ahead of them. According to Palacode police, the impact left multiple passengers injured, including the 41-year-old actor, his brother Joe John Chacko (36), their mother Maria Carmel (65), and the car’s driver, Anees (42), a resident of Thrissur.

Police said the family was en route from Kochi to Bengaluru to visit a de-addiction centre. Shine Tom Chacko and the other injured individuals were rushed to the Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital for treatment. The actor’s father succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Shine Tom Chacko, known for his work in Malayalam cinema and his recent role in the Tamil film Good Bad Ugly, had also been in the news following his arrest in an NDPS Act case. He also faced allegations of misbehavior by a Malayalam actress.
