There has been a serious complaint made against star cricketer Virat Kohli following a tragic stampede in Bengaluru that killed 11 people. The tragedy occurred on Wednesday evening during a public celebration of RCB's historic IPL title victory after 18 years.

 

The case was filed by activist HM Venkatesh from Karnataka's Shivamogga district. He reported the case at Cubbon Park Police Station, holding Kohli responsible for the crowd mayhem that resulted in the tragedy in front of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The stadium had attracted a big contingent of fans who wanted to see their favourite players.

 

Police Link Complaint to Ongoing Investigation

 

The police have also asserted that a complaint against Kohli has been added to the already registered case against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), and DNA Entertainment Network-the organisers of the event. These three individuals have been booked under Sections 105, 118, and 120 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal negligence.

As per reports, 47 individuals were injured, and 11 were killed, with the victims comprising mostly women and children. The Karnataka government has declared a compensation of ₹10 lakh for the families of deceased and assured to bear the medical costs of the injured.

 

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has reportedly flown to London and was seen at Mumbai Airport on Thursday. His absence has drawn mixed reactions from fans and critics online.

 

In the recent development, (Diageo India), was arrested from Bengaluru Airport while attempting to catch a flight to Mumbai. He is thought to have been a principal organiser of the event and is being interrogated on charges of planning lapses.
