The launch of the Golf GTI has ignited hopes that more enthusiast cars would trickle in to the market but the Civic Type R won't certainly be one of them. The Civic Type R is a performance car on sale in some global markets but would actually be pulled from sale due to stricter emissions rules. The Type R badge means it is the most extreme version and packs in a 2.0l turbo petrol engine with 320bhp which makes it one of the most powerful front wheel drive cars.

Plus it has a manual gearbox and one of the last performance cars in the world to do so. In India the Civic Type R won't come as it would be too expensive and it isn't part of the product plan. Honda will most likely launch a new electric compact SUV placed above the Elevate as it's next product. The Type R is a hot hatchback and has a sporty interior including performance seats while the styling has been toned down from the earlier Type R.

In India, we have previously seen the Civic sedan but never the Type R as imported it would be quite expensive being pricier than the Golf GTI even. The Type R has been sold in some global markets while now it is slowly discontinued while Honda puts the focus on electrification. Honda currently has the Amaze, City and the Elevate while it will bring new products soon as well but not like the Type R.
