New Delhi: Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko got injured in a tragic road accident in Tamil Nadu. The incident occurred early Friday (June 6) morning near Palakottai in Dharmapuri district, claiming the life of the actor’s father, 70-year-old Sibi Chacko. The actor, along with his mother and brother, was travelling in the vehicle when it collided with a lorry around 7 AM.
According to a report by India Today, Sibi Chacko succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Shine, his mother, and brother sustained injuries and were promptly rushed to Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital. The actor has reportedly suffered a fracture and is currently under medical care. In a video circulated from the hospital, Shine was seen speaking to a doctor, though visibly shaken.
His mother, also injured in the crash, continues to receive treatment. Further details about the extent of her injuries are awaited. A formal investigation into the cause of the collision has been initiated, although preliminary reports suggest that the family’s vehicle rammed into the rear of a lorry.
The tragic development comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding the actor. Shine Tom Chacko had recently made headlines after being arrested in connection with drug abuse allegations. A complaint had also been filed by his Soothravakyam co-star Vincy Aloshious, accusing him of consuming narcotics and misbehaving with her on set. These allegations had led to a police probe, which remains underway.
Shine Tom Chacko began his career behind the scenes as an assistant director before making his acting debut with the 2011 film Yaddama. Over the years, he has carved a niche for himself with compelling performances in critically acclaimed films like Annayum Rasoolum, Kammatipadaam, Mayanadhi, and Kuruthi. His versatility has also taken him across industries, with roles in Tamil and Telugu films. Most recently, he was seen in Good Bad Ugly and Alappuzha Gymkhana.
