James Martin dropped a bombshell during his show, James Martin's Saturday Morning, hinting at a potential change of pace in his career. While whisked away to Italy for a segment of the show, James, tasting a local chef's seafood dish, quipped to viewers he might "retire".

He jovially suggested to the chef, "Can I just say if your two sons don't want to do this, you call me."

In high spirits, James added, "I might retire here. I could be over there, I could be doing this, it is fantastic."

However, later in the show, back on set, James was forced to interrupt with a programming update, reports Devon Live.

Ahead of an ad break, he informed fans of a shorter episode, stating, "Because of the Derby on ITV1 this afternoon, it is a shorter episode than usual today. But we still have time for one more dish."

Since launching his solo culinary show in 2017, James recently spoke to Cotswold Life about branching out with his Live Tour 2025.

He expressed excitement for the tour, mentioning prestigious venues like Birmingham Symphony Hall, Newcastle O2, and Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, "Every show is special. When I look at the list of places we'll be going to this year, they are serious venues - Birmingham Symphony Hall, Newcastle O2, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester."

The star chef clarified the nature of his live performances compared to his television presence, stating, "People think the live shows are going to be like my Saturday Morning show, but it's really not, it's fast-paced, fun comedy, made by a great team, and it is really cool."

Reflecting on one of the standout moments of his career, James fondly recalled: "Walking out on that stage, seeing my mum and dad in the audience was magical. They knew how much I had worked and for how long to get there."

On the same episode, James engaged in a conversation about Soccer Aid with Harry Redknapp. The show also featured culinary delights from award-winning chefs Daniel Clifford and Sally Abe as they prepared a selection of dishes.

Sally showcased her skills by making delicious ricotta dumplings. James was particularly impressed by Daniel's innovative creation, a smoked butternut sorbet.

James Martin's Saturday Morning is available to watch on ITVX.
