are famously expensive places so add-ons for your can make an already costly even pricier. Even if you don't decide to add that extra bag, just getting a meal at the airport will leave your wallet a lot lighter.

The travel experts at eShores have shared their recommendations for the airport and flight add-ons that are actually worth the extra cash, as well as the ones you should leave alone. Their first recommendation is an airport lounge. Access to the lounge typically costs around £30-£45 per person, with options through some providers as low as £26.

However, a lot of people already splurge more than that on a meal at the airport. For example, at Heathrow a meal and two drinks will set you back around £38.

If you usually buy a meal and drinks at the airport (such as a coffee or soft drink plus something alcoholic), a lounge could save you money, while also offering more comfort, free Wi-Fi, charging points and snacks.

Another good spend is fast track security - but make sure you do this at the right time of year.

During peak summer travel, security queues at major UK airports like Manchester or Heathrow can stretch to 45-60 minutes. Fast-tracking security can slash this to under 10 minutes for around £7 per person at Manchester Airport.

At quiet periods, this would be a waste but if you're travelling during school holidays or another peak, it's worth every penny.

The third thing that can save you money is pre-booking your transfers in whatever country you are visiting. If you don't do this, you run the risk of arriving and panic-booking an expensive taxi on the other side which can cost anywhere from £40-£100.

Pre-booked options, whether it's a shuttle or public transport, are much cheaper, at around £5-15 - and knowing how you're getting to your accommodation can take some of the stress out of travelling.
