Veteran actor Aamir Khan has shared that his 91-year-old mother, Zeenat Hussain, is all set to make her first-ever appearance in the actor's upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen Par'.

Speaking to 'India Today', Aamir revealed that the idea came from the film’s director, RS Prasanna, who requested him to ask his mother to feature in a scene. Interestingly, Zeenat has never visited Aamir on set, but during the shooting of a vibrant wedding song, she expressed interest in seeing how films are made.

How Aamir Khan's mother became a part of Sitaare Zameen Par

Recalling the moment, Aamir said, "Prasanna came to me and said, 'Sir, if you don't mind, can you request Ammi ji to be in the shot? It's the last song of the film; it's a wedding celebration sequence. She can easily be one of the guests. It's an emotional thing for me; I want her to be a part of the film'."

The actor was hesitant, unsure if his mother would agree. “I told him, ‘Tu pagal ho gaya hai? Meri himmat nahi hogi Ammi ko poochne ki, ki film mei kaam karo, shot do. She is very ziddi. She is not going to listen. Don't waste your time.’” But after some persuasion, Aamir did ask her — and to his surprise, she said yes. “She replied, 'Haan theek hai.' I was shocked!” he said. “So, she is there in one or two shots. It's the only film of mine that she has ever been a part of."

Aamir's sister, Nikhat Khan, is also part of the cast.

About Sitaare Zameen Par

'Sitaare Zameen Par' is a spiritual successor to Aamir’s acclaimed 2007 film 'Taare Zameen Par'. In this new story, he plays an assistant coach of a major basketball team who ends up coaching a group of specially abled players as part of his court-mandated community service. The film stars Genelia Deshmukh as his romantic lead, along with a young ensemble cast that includes Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishnan Varma, Vedant Sharmaa, and others.

Backed by Aamir Khan Productions and helmed by RS Prasanna, 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20.
