For anyone hoping to camp in Greece or travel in a holiday-home, there are new restrictions you need to know. The country has introduced regulations prohibiting camping in tents and parking trailers, semi-trailers, motorhomes, and camper vans at certain spots.

These include places very popular with tourists including archaeological sites, seashores, beaches, edges of public forests and in general public areas. The FCDO said: "Ensure that you use licensed campsites to avoid fines."

If you're visiting Greece and choose to drive, you should keep your valuables out of sight and keep your car locked at all times. It is also important to always park in a well-lit area or secure car park and remain alert to car crime, the government explained.

For those taking public transport, be alert to thefts of passports, wallets, and handbags, as these are common on the metro, as well as in crowded tourist places. The FCDO advised: "Carry your valuables in different bags and pockets and keep a copy of your passport photo page somewhere safe."

Currently, Greek authorities have increased security at some tourist sites due to protests over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. There is a heightened risk of these protests, especially in central Athens, the FCDO said.
