South African star batsman Heinrich Klassen said goodbye to international cricket in early June. At the age of just 33, his decision surprised cricket fans and experts. Through passionate posts on social media, he announced retirement and wrote:

“It took me a long time to decide what would be right for me and my family.”

🎯 What was the reason for Klassen’s sudden retirement?
Klassen recently participated in the 2025 Champions Trophy and played a key role in the team to reach the semi -finals. Earlier, in the final of the T20 World Cup 2024, he also brought South Africa close to victory by playing a brilliant innings against India. But still Cricket South Africa (CSA) did not include him in the Central Contract released in April.

Talking about his retirement, he said:

“I had a long conversation with coach Rob before the Champions Trophy. I felt that I am not having so much fun in it. We had planned till the 2027 World Cup, but when coach Rob also left the post and no clear picture was found on the contract, it became easy to decide.”

🌍 Where will Heinrich Klassen play now?
After saying goodbye to international cricket, now Klassen will be focused on the franchise leagues.
They will now be seen playing in four major leagues:

Indian Premier League (IPL)

SA20 (South Africa’s Domestic League)

Major League Cricket (USA)

The Hundred (England)

Klassen gets Rs 23 crore per season while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
