Vat Purnima 2025 Tithi: Vat Savitri Vrat is observed twice a year. The first time on Jyeshtha Amavasya and the second time on Purnima day. On both these occasions, married women worship the Vat tree with full devotion and pray for the long life of their husbands by circumambulating it. This fast is considered especially difficult because it is kept without water.

This year Jyeshtha Purnima Tithi will start from 11:35 am on June 10 and will end on June 11 at 1:13 pm. The fast will be observed on June 10, while bathing and donations will be done on June 11.

Importance of Vat Purnima Vrat
According to mythological belief, when Satyavan fell unconscious in the forest, Savitri laid him down under the Vat tree and gave him coolness by fanning him with a bamboo fan. Remembering the same tradition, the fasting women first fan the Vat tree, and then pray for their husbands' long life and unbroken good fortune. Later they come home and wash their husband's feet and fan him and receive his blessings.

On this day, wake up in the morning, take a bath, wear clean clothes, and take a vow to fast.
After this, decorate a plate of worship with Suhaag items.

Go near the Vat tree and offer water to it. Along with this, offer milk, roli, rice and flowers.

After this, wrap a red thread or raw cotton thread around the tree 7 or 21 times while doing parikrama.

At the end of the puja, listen to the story of Savitri-Satyavan, perform aarti, and ask for the fruits of the fast.

At the end, married women should bless each other with good fortune and exchange their Suhaag items.
