Adrian le Roux is back as the strength and conditioning coach for the Indian men’s cricket team, taking over from Soham Desai as they gear up for a tour in England. This isn’t his first time in the role—he was with the team from January 2002 to May 2003.

Recently, le Roux showed up in a training video from the BCCI as the team kicked off their intense training at Lord’s for the upcoming five-match Test series starting on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. The bowlers, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh, were seen practicing alongside the newly named Test captain Shubman Gill, wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, all under head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Gill takes the captaincy for India’s 37th Test captain, stepping in after the retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. He leads a young squad looking to win a Test series in England for the first time since 2007. The matches are scheduled at Headingley, Edgbaston, Lord’s, Old Trafford, and The Oval.

Meanwhile, some players from India A, including a few senior team members, are already in England, playing in a second unofficial Test against England Lions in Northampton as they get used to the conditions.

Le Roux is returning after a solid six years with the Punjab Kings in the IPL, where they just missed winning the title in 2025 by six runs. He even shared a heartfelt goodbye on Instagram, looking back on his time with the team and the connections he made. His first task back with India will be the five-match Test series in England, marking a new chapter for Gill as captain and kicking off India’s next World Test Championship cycle.
