Bhubaneswar: A video featuring an IAS officer has gained significant attention online after his recent arrest by the Odisha Vigilance Department for alleged bribery.
According to an official statement, the officer was apprehended on Sunday while reportedly accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh from a businessman.
The officer, serving as the sub-collector in Dharamgarh, Kalahandi district, was caught in the act of demanding and receiving this amount as part of a larger bribe request totaling ₹20 lakh.
The officer, who is in his mid-30s, allegedly invited the complainant to his official residence in Dharamgarh, where he accepted the bribe and concealed it in his desk drawer.
An older video of the sub-collector has been circulating widely on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The clip was shared by the account @gemsofbabus_ and appears to have been filmed shortly after the officer passed the UPSC examination.
