Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Case: Police have arrested Raja's wife Sonam from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly plotting the murder of the king by hired killers.

Raja Raghuvanshi Case: Police arrested wife Sonam in Raja murder case

A big update has come in the case of murder of Indore's Raja Raghuvanshi on his honeymoon trip in Meghalaya. His wife Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused in the murder of Raja, has surrendered under pressure. She has been arrested by the police from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh ( Meghalaya Murder ) where she had surrendered before the police. Her three other accomplices have also been arrested, while one is still absconding.

The police are now making different revelations in the Raja murder case but a few days before the police revelation, a tourist guide had given an important clue to the police. He had said that he had seen Raja Raghuvanshi roaming with three people and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi. This revelation proved to be an important link in the investigation as the police got confirmed that not only Sonam but three more people could also be involved in the murder equation.

How the case was solved with the help of a tourist guide

PTI reported on Saturday that Albert Pade, a tourist guide in Mawlakhiyat, had seen Raghuvanshi and his wife with three people on the day they went missing. Albert said he saw the couple along with three people climbing the more than 3,000 steps from Nongriat to Mawlakhiyat around 10 am on May 23.

The guide said that he recognized the couple because he had told them the previous day to see the popular 'Living Roots Bridge' in Nongriat, but they politely declined and hired another guide. The 'Living Roots Bridge' is a naturally formed bridge made of tree roots in Meghalaya which is a center of attraction for tourists.

The guide also said that the three people accompanying the couple were talking in Hindi which shows that they were not locals. The couple's families had demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

Under what circumstances was Raja's body found

Raghuvanshi's body was found in a ravine near the 'Weisadong Falls'. One of her gold rings and chain was missing, raising suspicions that she was murdered. A day later, a blood-stained knife was found nearby and two days later, a raincoat similar to the one used by the couple was found in Mawkama village, between Sohrarim and the ravine where Raghuvanshi's body was found.

It is worth noting that Raja and Sonam got married on May 11 and both left for Meghalaya for honeymoon on May 20. They reached Mawlakhiyat village on a rented scooter on May 22. Their scooter was found abandoned in a cafe on the road from Shillong to Sohra on May 24, after which their search began. Now according to the Meghalaya Police, Sonam has surrendered herself to the police in Ghazipur, UP. On one hand, Sonam's father has claimed that his daughter is innocent, while Raja's brother said that if Sonam is found guilty, she should get the harshest punishment.
