Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced plans to consider shifting Chinnaswamy Stadium to a new location.
This comes after the tragic stampede on June 4 during RCB’s victory celebrations, which claimed 11 lives.
The CM expressed his personal sorrow over the incident and emphasized the government’s commitment to preventing such tragedies in the future.
Five police officers have been suspended related to the incident.
The intelligence chief and the CM’s political secretary have been replaced as part of administrative changes.
The CM clarified that the administration had no lapse in handling the crowd outside the stadium.
Legal action is underway against those responsible, and the government will not face embarrassment over this.
Siddaramaiah stated he will not resign over this incident.
Royal Challengers Bangalore has moved the Karnataka High Court, seeking cancellation of the criminal case registered against it in connection with the stampede.
One senior RCB official is currently in judicial custody related to the case.
Moving Chinnaswamy Stadium could be a major decision aimed at better managing large crowds and ensuring safety during events in the future.
Meanwhile, investigations and legal proceedings are ongoing to find accountability for the tragedy.
