A on the social media forum, Reddit, asked food enthusiasts to share their "weird lasagne" recipes.

As several people quickly flocked to the post and commented on their unusual ingredients, there was one response that caught everyone's attention. The user commented on the post: "Haggis lasagne. The peppery, umami flavour of the haggis works far better than it has any right to." Haggis is a traditional Scottish savoury pudding made from sheep's heart, liver, and lungs, mixed with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt.

It is all encased in a sheep's stomach (or an artificial casing) and boiled until fully cooked. Mixing them both can give "better" results, the user claimed.

A food expert shared the recipe on her blog, explaining how the traditional Scottish dish can be paired up with the Italian favourite. Kay wrote in : "I do indulge in a traditional haggis meal, it has to be one of those fancy-looking haggis-neeps-and-tatties towers doused in creamy, whisky sauce.

"I love haggis, but there's so much more you can do with it than the pubs on the Royal Mile would lead you to believe. Starting with... HAGGIS LASAGNE; a firm favourite of the main man Rabbie Burns, of course."

2 x haggis of your choice

1 x can of chopped tomatoes

1 x packet of salad tomatoes

Lasagne sheets

Cheese

Bechamel sauce

Salt, pepper, herbs, to season

Preheat your oven to 180 degrees, soak your lasagne sheets in warm water.

Crumble your haggis into wee pieces in a bowl or onto a tray.

Place about one-third of the crumbled haggis at the bottom of your lasagne dish, spreading it evenly with a fork or your hands to form a layer. Add a layer of sliced tomatoes, then season to taste.

Place lasagne sheets over the first layer, without worrying too much about precision. Then, add another third of the haggis on top.

Spread a can of chopped tomatoes over the middle haggis layer, seasoning as before. Repeat Step 3, then finish with a final layer of sliced tomatoes, seasoning once more. Lastly, cover everything with the remaining lasagne sheets.

Sprinkle your preferred amount of cheese over the top-smoked cheddar is a fantastic choice

Put in the oven for 45-55 minutes, turning the dish occasionally. Serve with salad and bread of the garlic kind.
