Raja Raghuvanshi Case In Brief: Police has achieved a big success in Indore's Raja Raghuvanshi murder case. The wife whom police was looking for has been found alive. If police is to be believed, wife Sonam has got Raja killed. Currently she is in a distraught state. She is not speaking anything. She has been sent for medical. But police has arrested three of the killers whom she had hired. The search for one is still on. Let's know the whole story of Raja Raghuvanshi from the beginning...
11 May 2025… King Raghuvanshi of Madhya Pradesh married Sonam. Both the families were very happy with this marriage. After marriage, like every couple, Raja-Sonam also planned to go on honeymoon. First it was decided that both would go to Kamakhya Devi temple in Assam. Then from there they would leave for Kashmir. Both first reached Kamakhya Devi temple in Assam on 20 May. Then here they made a plan to go to Meghalaya instead of Kashmir. Both reached Meghalaya on 20 May itself. However, what happened to both of them in Meghalaya created a sensation across the country.
According to the police, on May 22, the couple reached Mawlakhiyat village on a rented scooter and from there climbed 3000 stairs to see the famous 'Living Root Bridge' in Nongriat village. They stayed overnight in a homestay. Then on May 23, both of them left from there in the morning. A few hours after this, both of them went missing.
Guide Bhakupar Vanshai said- It takes about three hours to reach Nongriat from Mawlakhait. It involves descending about 3,000 stairs. The couple called me on May 22. It was 3:30 in the evening. I did not refuse and decided to take them to Nongriat. After dropping them at Shipra Homestay, I left. Another guide Albert Pade was also with them. Vanshai said- We offered our services the next day (May 23) as well. But they (the couple) refused. They said that they knew the way. Vanshai told the police that Sonam was mostly talking in English.
This person was last seen
The couple left the homestay at 6 am on May 23. Albert Pade was the last person to see the couple. He saw the couple climbing 3,000 steps towards Mawlakhait village at 10 am. They were accompanied by three men, whom he thought to be tourists. After this, both Sonam and Raja went missing. According to Pade, when he saw Raja-Sonam, four men were walking ahead, while the woman was behind. The four men were conversing in Hindi, but I could not understand what they were saying because I only know Khasi and English. The guide claimed - By the time I reached Mawlakhait, their scooter was not there.
Sonam had a talk with her mother-in-law
While the search for both of them was going on, an audio of the conversation between Sonam and her mother-in-law surfaced. Mother-in-law asked if she had eaten anything, Sonam said, 'Nothing is available here. I bought milk from a place, half a glass of it had a lot of water mixed in it. I bought coffee, that too was useless. I threw it away.' Sonam also told that they were going to see the waterfall here. After this the phone got disconnected.
The body was found near the waterfall on June 2
On June 2, Raja's body was found in a deep ditch near the Veisawadong waterfall. The body had decayed badly. Raja's brother Vipin identified the body. That too from the 'Raja' tattoo on his hand. But Sonam was not found. Initially, it was thought that both of them had an accident, but the post-mortem report revealed that Raja was murdered with a sharp weapon. If Raja Raghuvanshi's brother Vipin is to be believed, the area where these people had gone is notorious for crime. Bangladesh is very close to this area. The girl from the couples who come here is kidnapped and taken to Bangladesh.
Sonam found in a distraught state
Police teams kept looking for Sonam. Then, seven days later, the police achieved a big success in the case. On June 9, the police arrested Sonam from Ghazipur in UP. This was confirmed by Ghazipur's Additional SP Gyanendra Prasad. Meghalaya's DGP said - Raja's wife Sonam was involved in the murder case. She had called hired killers to kill Raja.
The police have also arrested the three attackers who are from Madhya Pradesh. The search for one of the accused is still on. According to Ghazipur police, Sonam Raghuvanshi was found at a dhaba in Ghazipur, UP. She was in a distraught state. She is not speaking anything on this incident right now. Actually, Sonam used the phone to contact her family after which the police reached Sonam. Currently, Sonam has been sent for medical examination. Now it remains to be seen what revelations are made in the case.
