beloved Teddy Bear Ladies - Amanda Middleditch and Julie Tatchell - have lifted the lid on the emotional toll filming the restoration show has on them. During a recent appearance on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh, the pair revealed looked back on their time on the TV show.

The dynamic duo has been a permanent fixture on the heartwarming series since its inception in 2017, regularly bringing guests' cuddly bears back to life. But the restoration process regularly pulls a tear out of the experts during particularly poignant moments in the barn.

Candidly speaking about the show to the green-fingered presenter, the experts disclosed how they manage the tears and emotional reactions whilst filming the touching reveals. Their admissions offer a rare insight into the BBC show where cherished family heirlooms are lovingly restored to their former glory.

Amanda confessed that she frequently cries when the cameras are rolling, explaining that production teams deliberately limiting the amount of footage of the experts crying.

She told Titchmarsh: "There is always a stash hidden, so we can grab a tissue if we need one. It is so emotional. I think they keep the emotional clips of us to a minimum because it doesn't make good TV if we are all blubbering. It can get really emotional in that barn."

The former Gardeners' World host confessed that he often gets "told off" for becoming emotional during sentimental clips on his own show. Thankfully, Amanda shared some of their best strategies with the host on how to cope with overwhelming emotions while the cameras are rolling.

When asked about how they maintain their composure during the grand reveals, Amanda explained: "I tend to shuffle around to give her a bit of a hug because it gives me something to focus on."

Julie acknowledged her own vulnerability, admitting: "You could see I was about to lose it, I think it was quite clear." Despite the challenges, the pair support each other through difficult moments. Amanda gushed: "It is hard, but we are quite fortunate.

"We kind of play off each other, so usually, different things trigger us. So one will sense that the other one is starting to go, and will kind of take over the conversation."

Apart from their television work, Amanda and Julie have built up a successful partnership that extends beyond The Repair Shop. The duo established their restoration business, Bear it in Mind, located in the heart of the New Forest back in 2006, with Julie initially eager to preserve traditional restoration methods.

Their shared passion for teddy bears has led to additional ventures, including their successful podcast Bearly Begun where they delve into their craft in greater detail. Last year, the close friends collaborated on a children's book which has enjoyed considerable success.
