Chepauk Super Gillies’ Swapnil Singh turned the heat up in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2025 with a blistering 45 off just 14 balls on Monday, lighting up the innings with sheer power and confidence.
Coming in at No. 6 in the 17th over after N Jagadeesan’s dismissal, Swapnil Singh wasted no time. In a span of 14 balls, he struck 2 boundaries and 5 towering sixes, ending with a staggering strike-rate of 321.43. His cameo transformed a decent total into a daunting one.
Swapnil Singh found an able partner in Vijay Shankar, who contributed 47 runs in a crucial fifth-wicket partnership. Together, they stitched a 56-run stand, taking the Chepauk Super Gillies from 154/4 to 210/5 in just 2.4 overs.
Singh was eventually dismissed with just two balls left in the innings, but the damage had been done.
Despite losing Abhishek Tanwar and Dinesh Raj in the final deliveries, Chepauk Super Gillies managed to post an intimidating 212/7 on the scoreboard.
At the time of filing this report, Nellai Royal Kings were struggling at 113/6 in the 15th over, with Arun Karthik (32) and Muhammad Adnan Khaan (14)* attempting to salvage the innings.
Interestingly, Swapnil Singh was picked up by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for INR 50 lakh during the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, he did not feature in a single game this season. His fiery knock in TNPL is a timely reminder of his T20 credentials and may put him back in the spotlight ahead of next season.
