India’s diverse and flavour-rich cuisine continues to gain global recognition, with three of its iconic breakfast dishes making it to the Top 50 Best Breakfasts in the World, as per the latest rankings by Taste Atlas. The global food and travel guide released its updated list in June 2025, highlighting breakfast staples that are loved across cultures and continents.

Topping the Indian entries is Misal Pav from Maharashtra, which secured the 18th spot. Known for its spicy and crunchy layers, Misal Pav is a beloved Maharashtrian street food often eaten as a hearty morning meal. According to Taste Atlas, “It is mandatory for a true misal to be spicy, while the base needs to be crunchy. Visually, it should look like a work of art, with lots of colours typically red, brown, orange, and green.”

Next on the list is the Paratha, ranked at 23. This versatile flatbread, typically stuffed with fillings like potato, paneer, or cauliflower, is a breakfast staple across North India and beyond. With numerous regional versions, parathas are often paired with curd, pickles, or butter for a wholesome start to the day.

Rounding out the Indian entries in the top 50 is Chole Bhature, which claimed the 32nd spot. A North Indian favourite, especially in Delhi and Punjab, this indulgent combination of spicy chickpeas and deep-fried bread is also a popular street food breakfast across various Indian cities.

Other Indian dishes that found a place in the extended rankings include Nihari, Shrikhand, and Palak Paneer further showcasing the richness of Indian culinary traditions.

Previously, Taste Atlas had also featured several Indian items in its list of the world’s best breads, cementing India’s place on the global food map.
