After Sonam Raghuvanshi surrendered in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh, her brother Govind recounted the emotional moment he received a call from her after a two-week absence. Sonam was located near a roadside eatery on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway on Monday. Following her discovery, she was initially treated at Sadar Hospital before being moved to the Sakhi One Stop Centre. Meghalaya's Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, noted in a media briefing that while three individuals were apprehended during a late-night operation, Sonam chose to surrender.

Govind chose not to elaborate on his sister's arrest or her alleged involvement in the case but did share insights into her condition during their call after 20 days. He mentioned that he promptly notified the police after their conversation, leading to her safe retrieval from Kashi Dhaba by law enforcement. "When she called, I felt overwhelmed with emotion, and I informed the police. Until I see her, I cannot comment further. I haven't slept in 72 hours, and it's been 20 days since I last saw her," Govind expressed.

Vipul Raghuvanshi, Sonam's brother, stated that he learned of her whereabouts around 2 AM from Govind. He told a news outlet, "I spoke to Govind at 2 AM, and he informed me that Sonam was found in Uttar Pradesh. After contacting the UP Police, she was taken into custody. She did not surrender voluntarily. We will not accept that Sonam is guilty unless she admits to it."

Authorities have stationed police outside Sonam's home in Indore. Siyaram Singh, the Station House Officer of Banganga Indore, stated, "Sonam resides here, and due to the gathering of people, we have implemented security measures as a precaution. We are not privy to the specifics of the case, as the Meghalaya Police are currently investigating."
