South Africa’s cricket team is set to confront Australia in the final of the World Test Championship 2025. The final match is scheduled to be held from tomorrow i.e. June 11, 2025 at the prestigious Lord’s Stadium in London. Two days before this match, Australia’s star batsman Steve Smith held a press conference at Lord’s in which he answered several questions from journalists.
Smith, who returned from a gap of three months after the Champions Trophy, said that he is feeling good as before and is ready to play on the big stage. He said in the press conference, “Yes, I know how our team is. We have been training very well for the last one week. All batsmen feel that they are in good position. We are now excited to play another Test championship final. Facing is a big challenge. Dux ball is different from which we usually play home or outside, but we are excited to make this match. “
Australia has a golden opportunity to become the first team to win the WTC title twice. New Zealand first won the inaugural edition by defeating India, while Australia won the championship by defeating India in 2023. Along with this, Smith also supported the idea of playing the WTC final in three matches. Earlier, Virat Kohli, Nathan Lion and some others also demanded a three -match series between the finalist to decide the World Test Champion.
Smith finished her talk saying, “I haven’t thought too much about it, but yes, perhaps the three -match series will be good. Best wishes to fit it in the calendar, which is already quite busy. But if it can be done, it will be great.”
Smith also spoke on the Challenge of South Africa for the finals and said, “Yes, he is a good team. He is here for a reason. I really could not understand how everyone works according to percentage, but he reached the top two and has earned his place.”
