New Delhi: The unlisted shares of HDB Financial Services (Housing Development Bank Financial Services) are witnessing a surge against the backdrop of the SEBI approval to its proposed IPO. Unlisted shares are those shares that are traded over the counter and are not traded over stock exchanges such as the NSE and BSE. These shares are privately held and is in the possession of founders, company persons, venture capitalists, etc.

HDB Financial Services is the non-banking part of HDFC Bank Ltd. The unlisted shares of HDB went up over 25 percent in a previous trading month. The unlisted shares are currently being traded at Rs 1250, surging from Rs 1000 in a couple of weeks.

The company has received an approval from SEBI for its upcoming Rs 12,500 crore IPO. The company aims to generate Rs 10,000 crore through an OFS (offer for sale), thereby allowing the promoters to reduce their ownership through their stake sale. The OFS is in sync with the SEBI guidelines for issuing an IPO. The remaining Rs 2,500 crore is to be raised through a fresh issue of share equities.

The company has been doing “reasonably well”, as per the CEO of Altius Investech, Sandip Ginodia. HDBC being the parent company of HDB adds further confidence in its IPO.

The IPO has amassed a buzz in the IPO lane as it intrigued investors after the SEBI approval. The buzz can be gauged from the fact that investors are rushing to pre-IPO markets ahead of the IPO.

According to the dealers from the pre-IPO market, the company may launch its IPO in the Rs 750-900 range.
