India vs England Test series, which begins on June 20, will herald a new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC). The series will also indicate a new era for several teams as seasoned cricketers have moved on, paving the way for young players to establish themselves.

 

One big name missing from this WTC cycle is Virat Kohli. He is now only playing in One Day Internationals (ODIs). The other three members of the famous “Fab Four” - Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Steve Smith - are also nearing the end of their careers.

Previous New Zealand captain Kane Williamson also shared his opinions and identified four youngsters who, in his opinion, would take things ahead.

 

Speaking to The Cricket, Williamson said:

 

“The players that come to mind in terms of multi-format are: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra, Harry Brook. And also Cam Green. Those are all outstanding players and have shown fantastic moments in all formats. All young and their games are just growing."

 

Williamson mentioned that Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rachin Ravindra, and Harry Brook are the players who can become cricket's new Fab Four.

In discussing these players, Williamson also spoke of the significance of Test cricket. Williamson appreciated all four, Jaiswal, Gill, Brook, and Ravindra, for their performance and potentiality.

 

Williamson added:

 

“I feel personally grateful that I was brought up in that red-ball era. It’s still there, but I mean the T20 format is so prominent now, where the volume that you play is so high. So the opportunity to bat long, but also the opportunity to really go through those different problem-solving elements in the game."

 

Yashasvi Jaiswal is doing well for India in all three formats and has become a regular in the team. Shubman Gill has been named the new Test captain for India. is already leading England in white-ball cricket. Rachin Ravindra is making a name for himself in both Test matches and ODIs for New Zealand.

 

As these four young stars get ready to take center stage, the new WTC cycle begins, carrying the game forward.
