Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman David Simeon passed away on Tuesday in Bengaluru at the age of 75. He had been admitted to Manipal Hospital due to health complications but did not respond to treatment.
Simeon is survived by his wife, two daughters, one son, and a large number of relatives, friends, and well-wishers.
A public homage was held at the Methodist Church near Richmond Town in the morning, allowing the public to pay their last respects. Later, his mortal remains were taken to Kalaburagi. Family sources confirmed that the final rites would be performed on Wednesday at 3 PM in Kalaburagi.
David Simeon, a native of Kalaburagi, served as the Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council from 1996 to 2002 and briefly as Acting Chairman. He was appreciated for his effective leadership in conducting the House.
Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti and several other dignitaries have expressed their condolences. In his message, Horatti said that Simeon was known for his deep love and concern for people of all communities, especially for the educational, social, and cultural development of the Kalyana Karnataka region.
Horatti described Simeon’s passing as a loss to the Kannada land, stating that the state has lost a committed public servant and skilled parliamentarian.
