Patna. The Bihar government has taken a major step towards social justice and residential facilities and announced an important plan under the Prime Minister’s Tribal Tribal Justice Mahabhiyan (PM-Janman) to provide permanent housing to the specially weak tribal groups (PVTGS) of the state. Under this scheme, 1308 families will be given assistance of ₹ 2.39 lakh so that they can build a pucca house.
Tribes selected under the scheme
9 particularly weak tribal groups of 10 districts have been included in the scheme by the Government of Bihar. These tribes include: Asura, Birhor, Birjia, Hilakharia, Korwa, Malpahadia, Parhaiya, Sauraia Pahadia and Savar. The benefit of this scheme will be available to eligible families of Banka, Kaimur (Bhabhua), Bhagalpur, Gaya, Katihar, Kishanganj, Madhepura, Nawada, Purnia and Supaul districts.
Key points of the plan
A total of 1308 families will get the benefit of this scheme.
A total of ₹ 2.39 lakh will be provided financial assistance to each family.
For construction of ₹ 2 lakh houses (in four installments)
₹ 27,000 for wages (under MNREGA)
₹ 12,000 for construction of toilets (under Swachh Bharat Mission)
The distribution of installments will be as follows:
First installment: After housing acceptance.
Second installment: When the construction of the house is completed to the ground surface.
Third installment: On completion of work up to the linter level.
Fourth installment: after finishing work above the roof level.
Eligibility Conditions for this scheme:
The benefit of this scheme will be available only to those families who do not already have a pucca house. Apart from this, no family member should be in government service. Eligible families will be registered on “housing soft portal”.
