Chennai Super Kings and Maharashtra captain Ruturaj Gaikwad became the fourth Indian player to play for the Yorkshire Cricket Club. They will take part in the England county cricket season following the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh and Cheteshwar Pujara.

Chennai Super Kings star batsman and Maharashtra team captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is going to join the Yorkshire Cricket Club of England. They will start with the county championship matches in July and will stay with the club for the entire season. Apart from this, he will also be part of the team in the One-Day Cup.

Ruturaj is the fourth Indian to play for this club. Earlier, Sachin Tendulkar played for Yorkshire in 1992 at the age of 19. After this Yuvraj Singh played at the club in 2003, while Pujara is an important part of the Yorkshire team from several seasons.

Ruturaj said that it was his childhood dream to experience cricket in England. He said, “Yorkshire is the largest club in England and I am very excited to join it. This season is very important for me and I want to give all possible help to the team.”

He is currently on a tour of England for a two unofficial Test match against England Lions with India A, but did not get a chance to play in a single match. Now he will also play against the team captained by Shubman Gill. They have to see whether they get a chance to play against the Senior India team or not.

Yorkshire’s head coach Anthony McGrath praised Ruturaj, saying, “Ruturaj is a great player and his playing style is favorable for our cricket. He will strengthen batting and will also be able to score fast runs if needed.” Club cricket general manager Gavin Hamilton also said that Ruturaj holds great records in all formats and his presence will strengthen the team.

The Yorkshire team will have the fifth foreign players in the Yorkshire team this year, including Australia’s Will Surreland and Jordan Buckingham, and Will O’Rark and Ben Sairs of New Zealand. Now it has to be seen how Ruturaj leaves his mark on the grounds of England.
