New Delhi: Last night, at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, Sagar Bhatia brought the capital to its feet with Sagar Wali Qawwali, delivering a night that was both a celebration and a homecoming. As part of India’s biggest Qawwali tour, the performance was packed with power, passion, and poetry, and an audience that matched every beat with undivided love.
For Sagar, this wasn’t just another city on the map. It was his city. The place where his musical journey began, with 20 rupees earned for strumming a guitar at satsangs. With no formal training, he learned everything by doing—on stages, small and sacred, absorbing music not from textbooks but from lived experience. That humility, that fire, that honesty—it showed in every note last night.
The setlist blended the traditional with the transcendental. He began with Sanson Ki Mala, moving into crowd-favourites like Sanu Ik Pal, Biba, and Kabira, Kamleya, Saibo, Kun Faya Kun, and Ranjha. His rendition of Tumhe Dillagi stirred emotion, while Saiyon Ni, Kive Mukhde To, and Halka Halka Suroor brought the audience to a euphoric high. The night closed with a heartfelt note with Akhiyan Udeek Diyan / Thagiyaan, leaving the crowd in awe.
Reflecting on the performance, Sagar shared, “I’m a Delhi boy who started with a second-hand guitar and a dream. Last night wasn’t just a show—it was a reminder of everything this city has given me and continues to give. This city taught me how to hustle and how to believe in myself. To stand on that stage, in front of people who speak your language, and feel your journey, that is pure magic. And I’ll never stop being grateful for it.”
The atmosphere was electric, but what stood out most was the intimacy Sagar created—each lyric felt personal, each silence sacred. His music didn’t just echo through the stadium; it settled into the hearts of everyone present, as he now takes Sagar Wali Qawwali to Mumbai (June 14), Bangalore (June 21), Jaipur (June 22), and Indore (June 28).
