Malayalam actor Mammootty ’s father-in-law, P S Abu , passed away on Wednesday morning, June 11, at 9 AM due to age-related health issues. He was residing at Star Junction in Mattancherry and had been under treatment for some time.

As reported by Kerala Kaumudi, a respected figure in his community, P.S Abu had previously served as the president of the Ilaya Kovilakam Mahallu . He was 83.

A respected community leader
Reportedly, P S Abu was widely known in the Mattancherry region, particularly for his tenure as the president of the Ilaya Kovilakam Mahallu.
Throughout his life, P.S Abu had remained an active figure in local welfare and religious affairs and also he was the son of the late Sulaiman Sahib and Amina of Payattu Paramba House.
Final rites to be held at Chembittapally Juma Masjid
The funeral will take place later on this day (June 11), with his burial scheduled for 8 PM at Chembittapally Juma Masjid in Mattancherry. His passing has led to an outpouring of condolences from family, friends, and well-wishers.

Family mourns a personal loss

P S Abu is survived by his children Aziz, Sulfath, Razia, and Saujath. His wife, Nabeesa, had passed away in 2020 at the age of 78. Among his sons- and daughters-in-law are renowned actor Mammootty (P. I. Muhammad Kutty), Salim, Zainuddin, and Jameez Aseeb. The extended family, including grandchildren and relatives from across Kerala, is expected to attend the funeral.
Mammootty's work front
On the professional front, Mammootty's previous outing was the action thriller 'Bazooka' which marked Deeno Dennis' directorial debut film. Unfortunately the movie received mediocre reviews from the audiences and did not do expected box office business. Mammootty also teamed up with Gautham Vasudev Menon for the film 'Dominic and the Ladies' Purse' which received decent reviews.
