Chain Pulling Rules: Every day lakhs of people travel through Indian Railways, but not everyone is aware of its important rules. During the journey on the train, you must have seen someone pulling the chain. Many people do this without reason, but do you know that doing this without need is a crime? Today we will tell you in which circumstances you can use chain pulling and when doing this can prove costly for you.

When can you pull the train chain?

Railways have provided chain-pulling facilities in trains for emergencies. If an elderly person or child is left at the station, someone suddenly falls ill or someone is in danger, it is right to pull the chain only in such a situation.

How does the Railway Police catch it?

When the train chain is pulled, the valve in the corner of the compartment turns and the sound of a pressure leak is heard. This immediately lets the railway know in which coach the chain was pulled. Then the police reached the same coach and inquired and identified the person who pulled the chain.

What is the rule of the railway?

Under Section 141 of the Railway Act 1989, pulling the chain without reason is considered a crime. If you pull the chain without any solid reason, action can be taken against you.

What is the provision of punishment?

If someone pulls the chain in the train without reason, then he can be punished with imprisonment for up to 1 year or a fine of up to Rs 1000 or both. So keep in mind, pull the train chain only in an emergency. Indian Railways is running campaigns at different places to stop this problem. Especially in those areas where such cases occur more. Railway employees are being deployed so that those who pull the chain without reason can be caught on the spot and action can be taken.

If you are traveling on a train, then definitely keep this rule in mind. Chain pulling done as a joke can land you in jail and can be the reason for a fine.
