She said that the maida used in momos is bleached to make it more smooth and elastic. For this, harmful chemicals like benzoyl peroxide are used. This chemical directly attacks the pancreas. Due to this, the insulin produced by the pancreas starts to decrease. This means that the blood sugar will increase. That is, it is very harmful for diabetes patients.

Dr. Priyanka Rohatgi said that momos made of refined flour are heated on steam. Therefore, there is not even an iota of fiber in it. It becomes ultra-processed. Therefore, it starts damaging the mucus of the intestinal lining. This causes constipation. Constipation causes the stool to become hard. If you eat spicy chili chutney with momos, then both these combinations increase the risk of piles or hemorrhoids in which the weak veins of the anus start bursting and this increases the risk of piles many times.

Why are momos dangerous?

Momos are made from refined flour. Maida is processed in itself. It sticks to the intestines. Refined flour causes inflammation in the entire body. This means that it has no fiber at all. It is whitened using azodicarbonamide, chlorine gas, benzoyl peroxide, or other bleaching chemicals. Traces of alloxans are also found in refined flour which makes the texture of refined flour soft and crispy. Momos are made from refined flour and many other things are also added to it. All these things cause a lot of harm to the body. The bleaching chemicals added to refined flour damage the pancreas. This causes problems in the production of insulin in the body. The vegetables and chicken used in momos are mostly spoiled or old. In fact, most of the chicken products which are available at unhealthy and cheap places contain E. coli bacteria. It creates poison in the stomach which causes many types of diseases.
