New Delhi. New rules can be applied to set the temperature of Air Conditioner (AIR Conditioner) in the country. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has announced new standards for AC on Tuesday. Under this, the temperature of AC will not be set less than 20 degrees Celsius and more than 28 ° C. Khattar described it as a bold step towards energy security. He said, ‘The new standard of temperature for AC has been fixed between 20 ° C to 28 ° C. This means that we will not be able to cool below 20 ° C or heat above 28 ° C. This rule will soon apply and its effect will be monitored.

Union Energy, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Khattar said that the aim of new standards is to bring uniformity in the use of AC and reduce excessive power consumption. This step is part of India’s efforts to reduce energy conservation and power demand, especially in the summer peak months. Currently, many Indian homes and offices are set below AC 20 ° C, increasing power consumption and pressure on the national power grid. According to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, increasing the temperature of AC reduces power consumption. For example, by 20 ° C to 24 ° C, the temperature can save about 24% of electricity. Each 1 ° C has an increase of about 6% electricity.

After the new rules are implemented, the boundary of AC that is currently cooled up to 16 ° C or 18 ° C will be limited. According to BEE, the temperature of 24–25 ° C is considered comfortable.
