One popular is set to close its doors for good after several years at the location. Tessuti has announced it will be closing its Glasgow Fort store after seven years of operation.

The store, which opened in 2018, is currently holding a major closing down , offering shoppers up to 70% off items, reported. A sign in the store's window reads: "Closing down. Up to 70% off." The specific date and reason for the closure has not yet been confirmed. Known for its curated selection of high-end menswear and womenswear, Tessuti was founded in 1985 by David Light.

The retailer offers a range of designer clothing, footwear, and accessories from premium brands, and its name means fabrics in Italian.

Its online platform, launched in 2006, extended the store's reach to customers nationwide.

The store made headlines in 2019 after being targeted in a robbery, with over £40,000 worth of designer goods reportedly stolen.

This is not the first Tessuti store to shut down. Its Sheffield Meadowhall branch was also recently closed, and while the chain had around 30 locations in 2023, several have since ceased operations.

Tessuti was previously owned by JD Sports, which fully acquired the brand in 2016.

However, in December 2022, Frasers Group, the retail powerhouse behind names such as Flannels, USC, Evans Cycles, and Jack Wills, took over ownership.

The group, overseen by Mike Ashley, also owns other companies such as Everlast, Slazenger, Lonsdale, and Karrimor, as well as luxury tailor Gieves & Hawkes.

Scotts, another retailer under the Frasers Group umbrella, has also announced it will be shutting its doors at the Glasgow Fort, the Glasgow Times reported.

With more than 25 years of trading, Scotts offers popular streetwear and casual brands including Adidas Originals, Lacoste, Fred Perry, and Pretty Green.
