How to Check UPSC Prelims Result?

1- Go to the 'What's New' or 'Examinations' section on the homepage of the UPSC website.

2- Click on the 'UPSC CSE Prelims 2025 Result' link.

3- Download the UPSC result PDF and find your roll number using Ctrl+F.

4- Download the result PDF and take a printout for future reference.

Note: The result contains only the roll numbers of the qualifying candidates. Personal scores or cutoff marks will be released with the final result (after the mains and interview).

Fill out Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I) before the UPSC Mains Exam

What is DAF-I: This is a mandatory form for the main exam. In this, you have to enter personal, educational, and service preferences (like IAS, IPS, IFS, etc.).
When and how to fill:
After the UPSC result is released, UPSC will announce the link and deadline (usually 10-15 days) to fill DAF-I.
Visit upsconline.nic.in and use the new portal (launched on 28 May 2025) which has the option of Aadhaar-based verification.
Choose personal details (name, date of birth), educational qualification, and optional subject carefully.
Upload scanned documents (degree, mark sheet, photo, signature, and category certificate).
Useful tip: Wrong information or incomplete process may result in cancellation of your candidature. Keep all the documents ready in advance.

How to prepare for UPSC Mains 2025?

UPSC Mains exam will start from 22 August 2025. It will last for 5 days. Notification will be issued if there is any change in the UPSC Mains 2025 date. For the final preparation of UPSC Mains, it is important to understand its exam pattern.

Exam Pattern: UPSC Mains consists of 9 descriptive papers:

Paper A: Indian Language (Qualifying, 300 marks)

Paper B: English (Qualifying, 300 marks)

Essay: 250 marks

General Studies (GS) I to IV: 250 marks each

Optional Subject: Two papers, 250 marks each

Total: 1750 marks (excluding qualifying paper)
