RBI Fake Note Alert: Whether the 500 rupee note in your pocket is real or fake, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has clarified the notes with a 'star' mark (*). A post has gone viral on social media, in which it is claimed that a fake 500 rupee note with a 'star' mark (*) is present in the market. Now how much of this claim is true and how much is false, RBI has clarified on its behalf. (Indian currency)

Let us tell you that RBI has said in this matter that if you have got any such banknote, which has a star in the middle of the series, then this note is also valid like any other note.

RBI told the whole thing-

- RBI has clarified that bank notes with star (*) mark are not fake, but are valid currency. RBI has given this information after some people called these notes fake.

- According to RBI, when a note is misprinted in a bundle of notes, a new note with a star mark is issued in its place.

- This star mark is marked between the numbers and letters in the serial number panel of the note. This is just a way to replace misprinted notes, and all such notes are completely valid. (500 rupee fake or original)

What does the star mark on the note mean-

RBI clarified that a bank note with a star mark is like any other valid note. Its star mark simply shows that it has been issued in place of a replaced or reprinted note. Let us tell you that the circulation of star notes was started in the year 2006 to make the printing of notes easier and reduce costs. Earlier, the Reserve Bank used to replace misprinted notes with the correct note of the same number.
