Indian Railways is called the lifeline of the country. Every day more than 2.5 crore passengers travel by train. Indian Railways has made many rules regarding tickets for traveling in trains. If we have to travel suddenly, then we have to take Tatkal tickets. Most of the time it is seen that Tatkal tickets are not confirmed. In such a situation, many passengers have to face difficulties. Therefore, Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules to reduce the problem of booking Tatkal tickets.
When will the new system be implemented?
According to railway officials, e-Aadhaar authentication is going to be implemented from July 1, 2025. From this date, Aadhaar authentication will be necessary on the IRCTC website or app. At the same time, from July 15, OTP linked to an Aadhaar number will also be required for online Tatkal booking.
The process will be done through e-Aadhaar verification.
How will it become easy to get a confirmed ticket?
More than half of the online Tatkal tickets are sold within 10 minutes of the window opening, in which a large number of agents and bots are involved. According to the new rule, only Aadhaar-linked IRCTC users will be able to book tickets for 30 minutes after the IRCTC Tatkal ticket booking window opens. Aadhaar-verified users will get OTP during ticket booking, which will have to be entered and verification will be completed within 10 minutes. During this time, even authorized agents of IRCTC will not be able to book tickets. In such a situation, the entry of agents, brokers, and bots will be stopped. Due to this, the pressure on the system will be less. Therefore, it will become easy to get a ticket.
What if you want to get a Tatkal ticket from the counter?
If you want to book a Tatkal ticket from the counter at the railway station, you will have to go through the Aadhaar verification process. This will be done through the OTP received on the Aadhaar-linked mobile number. If you are booking a ticket for someone else, then also the Aadhaar number and OTP of that passenger will be required.
What if you don't have Aadhaar?
What is the timing for Tatkal's booking now?
Right now IRCTC has kept the time of 10 am for Tatkal ticket booking in AC class. Whereas the timing of Tatkal ticket booking in non-AC i.e. Sleeper class starts at 11 am. If you want a confirmed ticket in Tatkal, then you should log in 5 or 10 minutes before the booking starts, so that the system does not take much time to log in. Things should be ready and you can book Tatkal ticket quickly.
If I cancel my Tatkal ticket, when will I get a refund?
Railways have different rules for Tatkal booking. In this, if your ticket is not confirmed, then it gets cancelled. If you have booked a Tatkal ticket to go somewhere and your ticket is not confirmed, then it gets automatically cancelled by the Railways. After this, you are sent a refund within 2 to 3 days.
Where to complain if you face any problem in ticket booking?
If you have any problem in booking a ticket, then you can call IRCTC helpline (139). If you want, you can also ask for help at the ticket counter of the nearest railway station. Along with this, UIDAI helpline (1947) can be contacted.
