A Florida man has been convicted of fraud after posing as a flight attendant to access employee-only tickets and fly for free on 34 domestic flights.
A federal jury last week found Tiron Alexander, 35, guilty of “wire fraud and entering into a secure area of an airport by false pretenses,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida said in a news release Tuesday.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, between 2018 and 2024, Alexander booked complimentary flights through an airline carrier’s website using credentials meant exclusively for pilots and flight attendants.
In total, he took 34 flights without paying, impersonating a flight attendant from various airlines. During the booking process, intended for airline staff, he falsely claimed to be employed as a flight attendant, providing details such as employer names, hire dates, and badge numbers.
Over the course of the scheme, he claimed to work for seven different airlines and used roughly 30 different badge numbers and hire dates.
U.S. District Judge Jacqueline Becerra is scheduled to sentence Alexander on Aug. 25, 2025, after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory considerations.
He faces up to 20 years in prison for the wire fraud charges and up to 10 years for unlawfully entering secure airport areas, according to the indictment.
