viewers were left in shock as they witnessed a momentous event in gameshow history when guests Karen and Ian scooped up an eye-watering prize of £100,000, marking it as one of the show's biggest wins.

The episode featuring Karen and Ian first appeared on the show in September 2024 and had an intense showdown with chaser . Shown on Thursday 12 June 2025, people who hadn't seen it before were left on the "edge of seats" as two players were quickly booted out after failing to get past the first round.

Making it through to the last leg, the stakes couldn't have been higher when Sinha, 54, was poised to snatch victory with just one correct answer. Presenter asked: "Lesley Manville played the widow Cathy in what sitcom?"

Sinha incorrectly answered Last of the Summer Wine, offering Karen and Ian a glimmer of salvation. However, they mixed up sitcoms with soaps, leaving them confused and unable to claim the point.

Despite their incorrect answer and Sinha desperately blurting out a last-second attempt, time ran out and Karen and Ian were declared the winners of £100,000.

The pair were visibly in shock at the staggering amount of prize money they had just won.

Karen could barely speak, only managing to whisper: "Oh my God!"

Bradley was also taken aback, commenting on the nail-biting finish: "That was close. Six attempts to push back, only two executed. The chaser needed one." Paul, despite losing, was thrilled for the pair and joked he'd 'lost' ITV £100,000. Calling them both "fantastic" players he took the loss in good grace.

This win for Ian and Karen resulted in one of the biggest payouts in the show's history, with each contestant walking away with £50,000.

Those watching at home rushed to share their thoughts with many commenting that Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha had ruined his chances. One user penned: "Paul messed that one up, played stupid for time and to create some tension - and ultimately fcked it up! Well done Ian and Karen..." Another person added: "Edge of seat this." And a third user wrote: "Sinnerman fell apart Well done them two."

Reflecting on past wins over the show's 16-year history, the largest in 2023 saw three players divide a £120,000 pot, taking home £40,000 each after outwitting chaser Mark Labbett.

Another remarkable moment occurred in the final chase of 2018 when team members Gayna, Tim, Luca, and Diane shared an impressive £100,000.

When it comes to individual records, the most unforgettable win was when Eden, a 20-year-old participant, bagged a whopping £75,000. In a face-off against chaser Darragh Ennis, Eden established an 18-step lead and secured the largest single-player win ever on the show.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
