Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Thursday. The tragedy, which claimed 241 lives, has shocked the nation and drawn heartfelt reactions from across the country.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Tendulkar wrote, "Devastated and heartbroken by the flight crash in Ahmedabad. Such a tragic incident! Prayers for the departed souls, and may God give strength and courage to their loved ones at this difficult time."

The ill-fated Air India flight, headed to London, crashed minutes after takeoff from Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The incident took place in the Meghaninagar area, resulting in one of the deadliest air disasters in Indian history.

Of the 242 people on board—including 230 passengers, 10 cabin crew members, and 2 pilots—only one person miraculously survived. The sole survivor, seated at 11A, is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.

Among those who lost their lives was senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, further deepening the national grief. Emergency services and rescue teams responded swiftly, but the sheer scale of the crash left little room for recovery.

Sachin Tendulkar’s message echoes the sentiments of millions of Indians mourning this unprecedented loss. Tributes continue to pour in from political leaders, sportspersons, and citizens, as investigations into the cause of the crash remain underway.
