Currently, initiatives are being launched for women alongside those for men, one of which is the Bima Sakhi Scheme. This program aims to empower women financially and help them secure employment opportunities.
The Indian government has partnered with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) to implement this scheme. Women interested in applying will first undergo training, after which they can become LIC agents, allowing them to earn commissions by selling policies. During the training period, participants may also receive a stipend of up to ₹7000.
A significant advantage of this scheme is that women can now advance alongside men. The more policies a woman sells as an agent, the higher her commission will be. Additionally, a stipend will be provided based on predetermined criteria. For instance, selling 24 policies in the first year could yield a total commission of up to ₹48,000.
Women applying for the scheme will need to provide several essential documents, including an Aadhaar card, PAN card, educational qualification certificate, mobile number, proof of residence, age certificate, and a bank passbook. Having these documents ready will facilitate a smooth application process to become an insurance agent.
