In a career spanning over 30 years, Sonia was paired opposite many actors including Kishore Kumar, Mehmood, Sanjeev Kumar, Dev Kumar, Sujit Kumar, Dharmendra, Raj Kapoor, Raaj Kumar, Dev Anand, etc.

Sonia Sahni’s major breakthrough came with the film Bobby. The movie featured Rishi Kapoor in the lead role and Dimple Kapadia as the lead actress. However, it was Sonia Sahni who stole the thunder with her role as Rishi Kapoor’s mother in the movie.

Sonia Sahni fell in love with Shivendra Sinhji, the Thakore Sahib of Palitana, and married him. Before tying the knot, Sonia was a Christian actress. However, she became Hindu and converted her religion after getting married. Interestingly, Sonia was previously engaged to Shammi Kapoor before becoming Shivendra’s wife.

Two years into the wedding, Shivendra Sinhji tragically passed away in 1990. Sonia became a single mother. She was last seen in Phool Aur Aag in 1999.
