Tiger Woods has proven that he remains a dominant force in golf, even when not competing. The 49 year old has been unable to participate in major tournaments, including the U.S. Open on June 12, due to ongoing injuries, including a torn Achilles that has kept him sidelined since July last year.
Despite this, Woods has secured a spot on Forbes' list of highest-earning golfers for 2025, thanks in part to revenue generated from his TMRW Golf League events, which he co-created with Rory McIlroy. According to Forbes' rankings, released just before the U.S. Open, Woods sits in fourth place, having earned $10 million on-course and a substantial $45 million through other ventures, totaling $55 million for the year.
Notably, Woods turned down a lucrative offer from LIV to become the face of their brand, with CEO Greg Norman revealing that the proposed deal was "mind-blowingly enormous" and reportedly worth between $700 million and $800 million, surpassing Jon Rahm's $450 million contract. Woods opted to conclude his 27-year partnership with Nike instead.
Jon Rahm has become the top earner in golf according to Forbes' 2025 rankings, with the 30 year old Spanish sensation pocketing an eye-watering $92 million from tournaments and a further $10 million through endorsements, amassing a total of $102 million.
Hot on his heels were PGA luminaries Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, placing second and third with their hauls of $97 million and $84 million, respectively.
Woods has confirmed undergoing successful surgery on his left Achilles in March after suffering "a sharp pain" during practice.
Though the golf superstar hasn't set a date for his comeback, he's emphasised a patient approach, insisting he will "focus on my recovery and rehab," steering clear of hurrying back to competition.
As attention turns to the U.S. Open at Oakmont, all eyes are on world number one Scottie Scheffler as the hot favourite.
Yet, the defending champion Bryson DeChambeau isn't to be underestimated, with pundits predicting he could very well defend his title successfully.
