The WTC Final 2025 between Australia and South Africa is heading towards a thrilling conclusion. The two sides are competing fiercely to emerge victorious. However, before the third day began, all the players and officials of the match stood still to pay respects to the victims of the Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on June 12.

 

Players wore black armbands to pay respects to the 241 individuals who perished. There was a single survivor. The flight was from Ahmedabad to London and crashed mere seconds after take-off, just 40 seconds to be exact. The tragic incident touched hearts across the globe. Even players in India vs India A warm-up match wore black armbands.

 

The WTC Final is taking place in London. Hence, the black bands also paid respect to the city and the victims.

Tense Battle Between Australia and South Africa

 

The game has been quick and thrilling. Australia now lead by 218 runs, but there is a chance for South Africa. Kagiso Rabada on Day 1 took five wickets and bowled Australia out for 212 runs. Then six wickets were taken by Pat Cummins to help Australia come back, and South Africa was bowled out for just 138.

 

In their second innings, Australia were in trouble at 73/7, but contributed a useful 43 runs. This provided Australia with a better lead. On Day 3, they are 144/8 and will attempt to extend their lead beyond 250 runs. South Africa will attempt to bowl them out soon and pursue the target.

 

The pitch is not very easy to bat on and scoring more than 200 is not common at Lord's. But South Africa has certain aggressive batters who can turn the match around. Australia might be a little in front, but the game is still on.
