Skoda Auto India has introduced its aggressive expansion plan for FY 2026. Brand director Ashish Gupta, who is commanding the company, says, “India is the most important country for us outside Europe. We are making cars which are according to the needs and expectations of the people.” Skoda aims to achieve 2.5% passenger vehicle market share this year.

Kylak became game changer suv

Last year, Skoda’s market share was only 0.8%, but after the entry of Kylak SUV it has increased to 1.8%. Kylak is the company’s most affordable SUV and due to this Skoda has now become India’s seventh largest car manufacturer. By March 2025, 20,000 Kylak units have been sent, out of which 17,000 units have been delivered to customers. The company’s target is that sales of 1 lakh units should be completed by the year 2025.

EV and new cars entry

Skoda will also focus on electric vehicles in India in the coming 2 years. Gupta said that Skoda will soon launch its first electric car in India. Along with this, Kylak and Kodiaq will be given prominence to strengthen the company’s hold in the SUV segment. At the same time, in view of the decline in sales of Kushaq, preparations are being made to bring a new facelift version.

Stir in the sedan segment

Slavia is currently the only sedan in Skoda, but the new Superb shown in January 2025 may soon join this lineup. Its diesel variants are also being considered. The Octavia RS will also be launched in the performance segment, which will cost around ₹ 50 lakh as it will be a fully imported vehicle.

Rural market and old cars are monitored

Skoda will now also target customers from villages and small cities. The company will promote the sales of old cars (Pre-Owned) and the maintenance cost has also been reduced so that more people can buy it.

Dealer network expansion

The company is rapidly increasing its network. By the end of this year, 60 new touchpoints will be added, which will increase the total number of outlets to 350. Currently Skoda is present in 165 cities, which will be extended to 200 cities. Of these, 60% of the new outlets will be in Tier-2 cities.
