Upcoming Inauguration of Gorakhpur Link Expressway

Several expressway projects are nearing completion in Uttar Pradesh, with the Gorakhpur Link Expressway being a significant one. The inauguration of this expressway, which connects to the Purvanchal Expressway, is scheduled for June 17. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will preside over public meetings at two locations during the event. The first gathering will take place near Salempur in Azamgarh, where the link intersects with the Purvanchal Expressway. The second event is set for the Bhagwanpur toll plaza in the Jaitpur region of Gorakhpur. Due to potential rain, the inauguration ceremony will occur directly on the expressway.

A team of government officials conducted site visits on Wednesday to assess the preparations, with Gorakhpur District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh participating in the inspection.

The expressway's opening was initially planned for December but faced delays due to unfinished construction. It was then rescheduled for late March or early April, only to be postponed again after the approach road near Kamhariyaghat Bridge collapsed. Fortunately, all construction work has now been finalized, including repairs to the approach road. Additionally, efforts to redirect the river are progressing swiftly to ensure three-level security, as confirmed by Setu Nigam.

Following directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Commissioner Anil Dhingra and DM Krishna Karunesh inspected the expressway's construction status on April 23. That evening, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress and urged agencies to expedite the completion of the project.

Details of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway About Gorakhpur Link Expressway

The Gorakhpur Link Expressway stretches from Jaitpur near Sahajanwan to the Purvanchal Expressway at Salempur in Azamgarh district. Spanning 91.35 kilometers, this expressway has been constructed at an estimated cost of around Rs 7000 crore. It is expected to significantly benefit residents of Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Sant Kabirnagar, and Ambedkarnagar. Travelers can reach Lucknow in approximately three and a half to four hours via this route. Although this path is 30-40 kilometers longer than the Gorakhpur-Ayodhya route, the travel time will be reduced due to minimal traffic congestion.
