It's hard to believe, but half the year has completed and it still feels like 2025 just kicked off recently. Well, a lot has been talked about 2025 being the year for electric vehicles, but the two-wheelers are going to launch a mix of petrol and battery-powered scooters.
We take a look at scooters that are expected to make their debut in the latter half of this.
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India
Let's start with the king of the scooter segment, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI). The number one scooter in India, the Activa, is going to get a much-needed facelift with some vital updates that will help keep its competition at bay. It could be equipped with an instrument cluster, LED indicators and tail lamps. There will be some tweaks in the design, but it will remain predominantly the same. TVS Motor
The rumour mill has been buzzing for a while whether TVS will plonk a more powerful 150cc in the sporty Ntorq. Even though this segment is niche, it is also an opportunity to storm this category with a Ntorq 150. Based on reports, the 150cc engine is going to be a new one and this will let the Ntorq compete against Aprilia SXR 160, Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155.TVS Ntorq (Image: TVS)
Bajaj Auto
Bajaj is accelerating efforts to launch a more affordable Chetak electric scooter in June. Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, revealed during the earnings call that an updated Chetak 2903 entry-level model is set to debut this month. The updated model is expected to feature the 35 Series' 3.5 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 153 km.Bajaj Chetak (Image: Express Drives)
Based on the entry-level 3503 variants, it could include a larger 35-litre under-seat storage compartment and reach a top speed of 63 kmph. Charging from 0 to 80% takes 3 hours and 25 minutes, delivering a real-world range of 151 km. The scooter will also offer two ride modes-Eco and Sport-for versatile performance.
Suzuki
Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd is going to launch its first all-electric scooter in India. The e-Access will hit the showrooms in June. The electric scooter is powered by a 3.07 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery offering a claimed IDC range of 95 km with an energy consumption of 39 Wh/km. It gets a 4.1 kW electric motor producing 15 Nm torque, enabling a top speed of 71 kmph. The scooter features three drive modes: Eco, Ride A, and Ride B.Suzuki e Access
Hero Vida
The VX2 is expected to be in the budget range in the Hero Vida lineup. Hero MotoCorp has not yet revealed the specifications, but the current range offers three battery specifications - 2.2 kWh, 3.4 kWh and 3.9 kWh.
