If you recently tried to send emails, open Google Dock or watch videos on YouTube and that was not working – you were not alone. Late on June 12, millions of users worldwide faced the problem of Google’s services down.
What happened that night?
Many services of Google, such as Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google Cloud – were not working properly – from around 12 noon to 3 pm on Thursday.
According to the Dowditector (which monitors the blockage in websites and online services):
79% of users were facing problems in server connections.
The file was not being accessed by 11%.
10% were having trouble connecting Google Cloud.
Not only Google, they were also impressed
Twitch
Discord
AWS (Amazon Web Services)
Cloudflare
Openai
… Also affected. Google admitted that his services were interrupted for about 7 hours.
What was the last reason?
Google told on its service status Dashboard that:
“The root cause has been identified and reform measures have been implemented.”
However, Google has not yet clearly stated what was the technical reason for this blockage.
Everything is normal now
The good news is that now all Google’s services are working again normally. But this outage once again raises the question that when the world has become so digital, can we be completely dependent on such a large system?
